During this years Comic Con, Alex Proyas killed the rumors that he was going to be directing a Silver Surfer film. “Unfortunately that is just a rumor. I don’t know where that came from,” he said. But was it really just a rumor? Alex Proyas has not said that an official offer was ever on the table but he explains why he would not do a Silver Surfer film. “Because it’s a Fox picture,” he told MTV. “And I’m determined never to work with them ever again because of my experience on ‘I,Robot.’”
"Of course, nobody really liked “Fantastic Four 2,” especially the subplot with the Surfer, Proyas argued. “It’s like the origin of Silver Surfer was in that movie, and I’m going, ‘This is such a fucking great story, why throw it away?’” Proyas wondered. “I think they messed it up.”
Proyas was also asked if there was any other comic book characters he would like to bring to the big screen. “You know, there aren’t that many left,” he sighed. “Silver Surfer would have been something I would have loved to have done. He’s one of the last cool ones left, really.”
“But yeah,” he added. “If you have any thoughts, give me a call.”
I totally agree with Alex Proyas about Silver Surfer being wasted in Fantastic Four 2 and I would have loved to see what he would have done with the character. So what do you guys think, Did Fox offer Alex Proyas Silver Surfer? Or is that just reading too much in to it?
